Schlossrestaurant Neuschwanstein in Hohenschwangau

Went here 1 year ago and still have to remember we have never eaten this bad in a restaurant. That's why I finally have to give my rating. I'm afraid that the foreign tourists will think that we Germans have no taste for good food ...

We stayed there for 2 nights. The room was big. Very good breakfast and friendly service. The location is great!

Not bad but not really good either. The pork medallions of the Schlosspflandl were very tough and dry. The cream sauce was quite unusual, very unconventionally seasoned. Spaetzle were good 👍 Great view and friendly staff.

Very friendly staff and the food came quickly and was good. Although it was very busy in the restaurant at noon. But the selection of dishes is manageable and aimed more at tourists. The prices are not that high.

Very reasonably priced hotel just 6 minutes from the castle. The breakfasts are great and the Bavarian regional dish of Ludwig II's dinner was very tasty.

I guess you can do it that way if there aren't many cafes up there. Service not exactly friendly although hardly anything was going on. There was only milk foam in the cappuccino. I wouldn't visit it anymore. Then prefer a coffee at one of the kiosks. It is a pity that the quality is no longer paid attention to here. The restaurant name promises more than what it says.

Good taste was just average. They give very small plates, and charge extra for everything (sauces etc.) without telling. Also very impolite service.

We stayed in the hotel for a night. Therefore I give 4 stars: location next to the castle and bed were very comfortable. Being able to drive up by car and the associated free parking are useful for less mobile people, for example pregnant women. The service was very quickly and breakfast plentiful. The disadvantages are that the restaurant has to close at 6pm due to Corona regulations. The food was reasonable value for money but not very good: a bit dry and overcooked and not sure if it was freshly made. I personally would prefer waiting longer for better food.

The worst Kaiserschmarrn of my life. Any ready mix is ​​better. The restaurant survived solely because of its location. Next time I'd rather starve to death before I have to eat something there.

The restaurant / hotel is located directly under the castle, it can only be booked through Booking, com. There are enough parking spaces. The online reservation is required to be able to drive up to the hotel, of course slowly through the masses of strollers🤪

A place to avoid. The food was tasteless even if it looked nice on the plate. But the real thing to avoid I'd say it's the rude staff. Even during corona times, the table didn't looked cleaned. The waitress spilled some juice on the table and didn't clean it or didn't even give us some napkins to clean it ourselves. There were wasps getting into the drinks and food, because there was split liquid everywhere which wasn't cleaned and attracted them. The attitude of the waitress was really unpleasant and not at all welcoming. Also, the tables are close to each other, so no social distancing there.

An average restaurant with average food, there was a lot of you everywhere. We waited for the payment with empty glasses for maybe 20 minutes.

Hygiene seems to be unknown here. Even after repeated requests, crumbs were only removed from our table when it was dry. Incomprehensible in the current situation. On top of that, staff was very rude. Left again and ate in a real restaurant. One star is still too many!

It did not start well with a very slow service (we had to wait quite a while to get the menu) but then the waitress was correct enough for a german restaurant. Food quantity was more than enough (quite big portions compared to some other countries), quality correct (I appreciated my currywürst even if it is not typically bavarian) and prices low for such a touristical place. The waitress was surprised that we asked to take away what we could not eat due to the sizes (they are obviously not accustomed to such demands), but did her best to please us.

It was amazing but Sitting outdoor bothered by bees and flies was really annoying. The servers are very kind and friendly.

I'm only referring to the restaurant here. The price is very convincing, but it has to be adjusted to small, counted main courses. However, the starter soup was plentiful! The restaurant is great for quick hunger and to recharge your batteries. The food was delicious and the staff young and friendly!

Bad, expensive, unfair. 1 filtered coffee (even not from espresso maschine) costs 4,90 !!! Do not go in, it is trap for tourists. I would give 0 star. Shame on you!

The staff is very friendly. Nice place on the edge of the forest with lots of shade on hot days. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. Small portion and the taste absolutely below average. It's a shame, I was looking forward to good German cuisine in such a magical place.

What can I say? I ate the best "Schwein haxe" in my life. Good service, good prices.

Not sure if they are part of the actual restaurant but on the way down from Neuschwanstein castle, we stopped by the small store on the side of the restaurant. They were frying and selling donuts coating in icing sugar. they were quite tasty and a nice warm treat while walking down in the cold.

The Gulash is good. Quite a bit crowded. Price is reasonable.

the food is catastrophic, the staff worse

Food is not authentic and tastes quite bad. At least the price is ok and the food came quickly. None of the staff can speak German. We ordered three different dishes and everything was bad.

The lack of competition and the neighborhood with the castle imposes a certain imprint (high expectations). As for the quality of the dishes, something is three, and something is four. The service is fairly fast and quality. But the overall impression is low on the visit.

The Hotel or rather Guesthouse is located just few minutes walk from the castle. And probably this is one of the only benefit this place has to offer. If you come to see the castle (which is let's be honest nowhere near as beautiful as on the pictures) then this can be convenient for you. Otherwise I am not sure if I would ever want to go back their even if it's just for a coffee. As there are a large amount of people passing by, while they are waiting for their tour to start they just want to have a coffee somewhere nearby. This hotel makes it clear they don't mind if you would like to join in the restaurant just for the drinks (which is nice), since you are still spending money, right? However when you enter and you make it clear to the waitress that this would be the case, she gives you funny faces and she makes sure you feel that you are not welcomed. We came across a very unfriendly service where they also didn't like the fact that we wanted to pay by card and our total expenditure did not achieve 20 euro. The lady who served us had a go at us if we can not see the signs (the hidden signs by the way :))) then tough luck... then gave me the receipt with such attitude... I am sorry to say, but you won't make it to the top of the booking lists if you employ such rude waitress and treat your customers like this. Hence why you have 3.2 star in here and hence why people book other hotels very close to yours but with a better service. To be honest this place was on our list for a night staying but I am glad I experienced the true picture before wasting my money on you and feel terribly uncomfortable...

Very bad service!

I stopped in this structure after the visit to the castle ... Beautiful and characteristic structure but a disappointment on the quality of the food. Bad hot chocolate (everything was except a hot chocolate) on the way out we took their typical fried sweets (never again) not recommended

Really rude staff., especially the man serving at the restaurant. A really turned off to the nice location. What a shame.

Visited the restaurant as it was conveniently located but we were shocked by the terrible service received. The waiting time to take our orders and settle the bill was too long. It took around 10 mins each time to get their attention. Food was mediocre and I would think twice visiting this place again. :(

Good food. Great location. Cheap. Very long menu with lots of options. English menus. So close to the castle!

Unfortunately no soy milk available, no vegan options at all!! Only two vegetarian meals which contain lots of cheese and egg. The waitress was unfriendly and didn't understand German or English very well.

The worst service I have ever experienced. The man serving the queue was so rude. Just because there isn’t any other restaurants we have to eat here. The food tasted disaster. No taste at all. You can’t call these dishes “food”!!!!!!!!! Don’t come unless you want to ruin your good mood during the visit of Nueschwanstein.

The food here was some of the best of our short 3 day trip in Germany. The pork knuckle and German noodle pork dish was extremely good and came out very quickly after ordering. The 2 dishes plus water cost around 32€. The menu was also quite offered a move variety of dishes for reasonable prices being that it’s likely a tourist hub. The venue was a fantastic great setting as well with the views and theme as it’s the first restaurant you’ll find after leaving neuschwanstein. I felt the atmosphere was great and the service was friendly as well. I would recommend eating here to anyone.

Slow, apparently inattentive service. Come in only if you have plenty of time....even for just a beer.

Mediocre food, at a mediocre price. Food is meh, bier is good, service is also meh. Desert is not very good. Waffles and ice cream, the waffles were pre packaged from aldi.

This restaurant was the worst in my 11 day stay in Germany. It had everything to be great, because it is near the castle in a beautiful place. But It was just terrible. Rude service. Terrible food. Run away! The eisbein was the worst eisbein I’ve ever had. Needs lot of improvement.

Average food, nice location, but the staff was very rude, not even paying attention to us while ordering. They tried to charge us extra beers, and after a little discussion everything ended alright, but the situation was very unprofessional

One of the best experiences I had was with my wife and children. The rooms were beautiful and historic. Excellent breakfast and reasonable price.

We stayed in the hotel, it is very expensive for what you get. The rooms are basic with uncomfortable beds and rough sheets. The walls were thin and the breakfast bad, flies walking over all the bread and items on the breakfast buffet. They also don't mention that you have to pay for the breakfast, if we had knows we wouldn't have bothered as it wasn't worth it. It was the worst breakfast. Now on to the positives, the location is amazing for getting to the castle. 10 min walk up and you can leave your car for free in the car park. Everyone else has to walk up the big hill and in the summer heat it was quite a challenge.

we expected the typical friendly bavarian hospitality we've encountered in many other places so far, but that was nowhere to be found here. rude staff (especially the female server from India), and average to low quality food. The ice cream was good, but other than that, would not recommend.

Although the location is great, the service was really rude. I will never understand why someone would treat the customers so bad. The food was average, even good, but when we ordered the check everything was doubled. When we told the waitress we had to wait a long time and finally the mistake was solved, but not even a single apology was offered. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all, the food is not worth the bad experience and the awful treatment.
